Improvement suggestions

Hi Peter, Ajit and Anthony (and FYI all Forum Oxford members)

I've received comments from a couple of our members that they find the log-on procedure too cumbersome, that they are actually not returning to the site because it always requires the entry of the password. Obviously these users have their cookies turned on and get their names entered into the field. But no automatic entry.

Could we update the system so, that if the user wants, they could have the log-on to be completely automatic (saving the password with the cookie or however it is done?)

Just a suggestion, repeating it here on behalf of a few of our members

Since we are on the subject ...

The emailed messages take a very long time to load.  My guess is that the system is sending HTML that links back to the site for images and content.

The emails should be self contained, HTML is ok, and should NOT be accessing the web server for their content.  It makes scrolling through them painfully slow.

AND yes, the repeated log-in requirement is just bad practice.

If you don't want your email messages sent as HTML it is very easy to turn it off. Simply edit your profile and on the email format change it from HTML to plain text.

I love HTML email.

The issue is that the HTML emails being sent have a IMG tag (or something else) that accesses the Forum's servers and that this delays the display of text.

Just change the HTML that is generated to be self contained, that's all.

Since it's important to increase membership further... and really load the servers :p

We should be given code which can be included in our blogs, saying Talk Mobile Oxford style...or something

That actually doesn't sound like a bad idea... except for the server part.
